Inside Areté Interview Series

Who is Areté?

Bell, Areté Senior ’21

What are your plans for after Areté?

When I graduate I am going to be attending Rice University in Huston where I plan on majoring in mathematics and philosophy. For a career, I hope to travel the world and find a way to mathematically model fungi growth and their symbiotic relationships with vascular plants and animals.

What is your favorite Areté memory?

My favorite memories from high school I think would center around cross country and robotics. Both had such amazing groups of people and it was a great bonding experience. I think my all-time favorite memory may be when half of the cross country team got lost during practice because the cannon we said we would meet at was actually a howitzer and for those that could tell the difference it caused mass confusion. Although I will always remember the days where I brought tea, snacks, and blankets into class, and nobody thought anything of it. That is a purely Areté attitude and was one of my favorite things about the school.

What is an accomplishment you are most proud of from high school?

I think I am most proud of my accomplishments on the robotics team. when I joined sophomore year I was way out of my comfort zone. However, by junior year, I was ¾ captain of the team (shout of to my ⅓ co-captain Jiyen) and had discovered something I love doing.
