Admissions

The Areté Student -
Anything But “Basic”

We are looking for students who follow their own rhythms, seek their own paths to understanding, and develop their own unique intellectual styles. Who believe that conformity is highly overrated. Who prefer deep reflection to shallow conversation. Who love being with a like-minded group of original thinkers and ardent explorers.

We enroll students who will value our challenging, idea-centered coursework and take advantage of our individualized support system.

Applicants are accepted year round on a space available basis. We provide a limited number of scholarships based on demonstrated financial need.

Application
Process

Admissions decisions are based on a written application, teacher recommendation, and personal interviews with prospective students and their parents. A day-long “shadow day” provides an opportunity for the student and the school to evaluate one another through informal, authentic interaction. For more information, please contact us at 310-478-9900.

We offer two options to introduce you to the school and its amazing faculty and scholars:

Open Houses
Come learn more about our one-of-a-kind middle and high school programs. Meet our first-in-class faculty and hear from Areté parents and students. We offer both weekday and weekend open houses throughout the academic year. RSVP HERE!

Individualized Tours
Contact Us or call at 310-478-9900 to arrange a personalized weekday tour and visit with administrators, faculty and students. Drop in on classes and see firsthand what The Areté Seminar is all about.

Prospective students get to attend a day-long “Shadow Day” at Areté. This provides an opportunity for the student and the school to evaluate one another through informal, authentic interaction.
